Exhibition with works by Giuseppe Penone

The Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm presents an exhibition of Giuseppe Penone's project Trascrizione musicale della struttura degli alberi (Musical transcription of the structure of trees) from 28 May to 30 September 2024.

The exhibition is based on a project carried out by Penone in Ardèche, France, which focused on trees. The artist struck fourteen trees with a rubber hammer and the sound was recorded, analysed and transcribed into notes. Penone tells the story of the fourteen trees and the landscape that surrounds them. From these musical transcriptions, seven tracks were recorded in which musicians performed the essence of the trees through their instruments. This project was compiled into a book, which is also the basis for the exhibition at the Institute.
