Symposium on Cristina Iglesias' Artistic Practice

On 10 September, a symposium will be held centred on Cristina Iglesias' artistic practice. Over the years, Iglesias has created large-scale works in materials such as bronze, steel, glass, and water that reference the history of the sites where they are installed. Her new sculpture, Aurora Borealis Star Dome, is situated at the highest point of the Rosendal area, known as the "hunting star." The evening will feature, among others, Director General Patrick Amsellem and the artist herself.

Programme

Sara Sandström, Executive Director of PREKS, will open the evening with a welcome address and introduction.

Cristina Iglesias, Artist of the Year in the sculpture park, in conversation with Patrick Amsellem, Director General of Nationalmuseum and member of the PREKS Artistic Council.

Magdalena Hammar, PREKS Fellow, will present the history of the hunting star — historically a central point in the royal hunting park and now the site of this year's sculpture.

Sverker Sörlin, Senior Professor at the Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.

Jonas Nordquist, Medical Educator at Karolinska Institutet, with a focus on medical education and the integration of art and the humanities.

Anna Jansson, Head of Donations, Partnerships, and PR, Nationalmuseum, will be moderator for the evening.

The symposium will conclude with a premiere screening of the documentary film about Cristina Iglesias' artistic practice and the process behind this year's sculpture in the Princess Estelle Sculpture Park. The film is produced by Blick Film and PREKS.
