Naelu – Alternative Identity

In her thesis project at Konstfack, in collaboration with the Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation and the Ethnographic Museum, the performance artist and art education student Naelu has investigated the mask as a tool for performance art in art education.

How can we make visual arts education reflect what is happening in contemporary art? Performance art has an obvious role in today's art scene and is shown in galleries, biennials and museums. However, it can feel difficult to venture into, both for students and art teachers. Working in a three-dimensional and sculptural way involves physical contact with the material, but the body itself can also be the material.
