On the 18th of September, a symposium was held that took its starting point in the story of the forgotten royal art museum that was never realized. Through artist Monika Sosnowska’s installation Museum in Princess Estelle’s Sculpture Park, the history came alive once more. Among the evening’s speakers were, among others, Director General Patrick Amsellem and the artist herself.

The conversation with Monika Sosnowska and the film screening were in English. All other program items were in Swedish.
Program
Sara Sandström, Director of PREKS, welcomed the audience and gave an introduction.
Patrick Amsellem, Director General at Nationalmuseum, presented an art historical overview with a focus on Karl XIV Johan’s Rosendal.
Magdalena Hammar, PREKS Fellow, presented her research on the planned museum at Rosendal.
Jenny Andersson, geologist at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, spoke about marble and minerals.
Carl Ritter, Ph.D., Stockholm School of Economics, presented the course Applied History and reflected on how historical analysis could help us understand the present.
Monika Sosnowska, artist, shared insights into her artistic practice and discussed her work Museum.
The symposium concluded with a screening of the documentary about Sosnowska’s project at Royal Djurgården, produced by BLICK Film and PREKS.
