Moderna Museet exhibits Yinka Shonibare CBE's sculpture Vasa Ship (2004) in the museum's foyer. The Vasa is the oldest surviving ship from the 17th century, the century of trade lines, circumnavigation, colonialism and, above all, the slave trade. In his replica of the ship, Shonibare ties together historical and global threads across oceans and continents, reminding us of Sweden's role in the world and the world's role in shaping Sweden.
